Jaguars come roaring to India-the Jaguar XF
Tata acquired luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford last year.But it took a year for the Jaguars and Land Rovers to be introduced in India.Tata have come up with three Jaguars models-the XF,XFR,XKR and three Land Rovers the Rover Discovery 3,Range Rover Sport and the Basic Range Rover.As these cars are being brought to India as Completely built units,these will cost even more than they cost in the UK.The price range is from Rs.63 lakhs to 92 Lakhs.Tata has also announced a 1 crore car to be soon added to the elite league.We will introduce the Jaguar XF in this article.
The Jaguar XF is a mid-size luxury car from Jaguar.The Jaguar XF was launched in the UK as a replacement to its S-Type mid-sized luxury sedan and since then won accolades from everywhere including winning the What Car? Car of the Year in the executive car category.
The Jaguar XF is a perfect blend of classic Jaguars of the 1960s and modern styling.The front lights and the nose incorporates an oval mesh grille,something similar to that found in the 1968 Jaguar XJ.The basic body work seems to be carried over from the S-Type but the Jaguar XF is longer and taller than its redecessor.The car body of the XF was developed by using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD).Each and every design feature seems to be blended to provide superior aerodynamics to the XF.The drag coefficient on the Jaguar XF is just 0.29,hence minimising wind noise,fuel consumption and giving great stability and handling even at great speeds.The exterior profile looks athletic and assertive and gives the impression of a beautiful sports car.
The XF is powered by a 5000cc V8,32 valve petrol engine delivering a whopping 385 Bhp @ 6500 rpm and maximum torque of 515 NM@3500 rpm.The XF reaches a top speed of 250 kmph.A base model available in the UK comes with a 3L,V6 engine.But Tata have not gone for the base models in any of the models they have introduced.The Jaguar XF has a 6 speed automatic transmission.
The interior of the Jaguar is nothing less than “luxury”.Even the base model of the XF comes trimmed in leather in most areas.Also real wood veneers joined together by aluminum trim creates a classical yet modern look to the interiors.The instruments used are blue lighted.Also the Halo illumination around the switch panels and Jaguar DriveSelector console indicates their positions without distracting the driver.The car is really very spacious too giving a boot space of over 500 liters.
The safety features on the Jaguar XF include 8 airbags,ABS,EBD,ESP and a lot more.The XF also features Parking sensors,Rear seat belts,Fog lamps.What more can you add to these features?The Jaguar XF also features Dual climate controlled AC,Power Windows,Remote central locking and a dash integrated music system and more.
