Premier makes a ‘Grand Re-Entry’ with the Premier Rio
When Premier launched the Premier Padmini decades ago,it soon became the most sought after car in the Indian markets.But Premier was not able to replicate this sucess story to the next decade and as competition from other manufacturers and entry of many other foreign manufacturers into the Indian markets meant that Premier gradually almost faded away from the Indian automobile industry.
Now Premier is all set to bring back the past glory.The newly launched Premier LX SUV is a perfect car to script a new beginning for Premier.THe Premier Rio is one of the smallest SUVs,measuring less than 4 meters in length.The Premier Rio is basically the Zotye Nomada,which is manufactured by leading Chinese auto manufacturer Zotye Autos.As such,the Premier Rio is a product of the collaboration between Premier and Zotye Autos.
The Rio is powered by a 1489 cc Turbo Deisel engine delivering a maximum output power of around 65 Bhp @ 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 152 Nm @2250 Nm.The displacement being less than 1.5 L means that customers wont have to pay the extra tax involved when buying a car above 1.5 L displacement.
The Premier Rio is not by any means a large car.It measures 3900 x 1500 x 1670 mm in dimensions.The car’s design may also not be really eye catching is not ugly by any means.The front features twin parabolic headlamps with a mesh grille.The turn indicators have been integrated into the front bumpers,giving it the rugges SUV look.
The base model of the Rio is priced at 5.25 lakhs,which means tha the Rio is a perfect car for those seeking an affordable SUV.The Premier Rio will be launched in three variants-the Rio EX,DX and LX.
