Launched at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show,the Skoda Yeti Hatchback SUV crossover will be soon launched in India.
The 4.2 meter long ,five door Skoda Yet has all the distinctive features of the Skoda brand.The front part looks impressive with the ribbed grille and the stylish headlamps.The Yeti gets its SUV attributes mainly because of the high seating position.Otherwise,the Yeti is just little
more than any premium hatchback vehicle.

The European version of the Yeti was available with four wheel drive and front wheel drive.However,for the Indian consumers,Skoda is expected to launch the Yeti only as a front wheel drive.The Indian Yeti will be powered by a 1.2L,4 cylinder petrol engine which will give a maximum power of 105 bhp.Another model that may be launched will have a 1.8L engine delivering an output power of 180 bhp.Diesel versions of the Yeti are available in Europe which are powered by 2.0 L engines delivering powers of 110 to 170 bhp.However,it seems that the Diesel variants of the Skoda Yeti will not be launched in India,at least for now.Again,the engine is expected to be turbo charged.So expect more power with the lighter engine.

The main feature of the Yeti is storage space it offers.Removing the rear seats will offer you with 1760 liters of storage capacity.In addition to the high storage space,the 4×4 version will also have a luggage cover and net,thus securing your load.

The Yeti sports a robust and solid look on its 17 inch alloy wheels. The Yeti has a higher ground clearance(180 mm) and also promises to offer good fuel efficiency as well as low CO2 emissions.The Yeti is expected to be priced at around 10 Lakhs.The pricing does seem to be a little bit on the higher side but the Skoda Yeti should be a great family car, especially with the huge luggage cabin it has.

The Skoda Yeti will have to fight it out against the Hyundai Tucson,Honda CR-V,Chevrolet Captiva and the Suzuki Grand Vitara.With so many SUVs already in the Indian markets,one begins to feel “Do we really need more Suvs?” Well,it does seem that the car manufacturers do not feel the same. A host of more SUVs are soon expected to be launched in the Indian market, and the Skoda yeti is just one of them.The Skoda Yeti will be launched in Q1 of 2010.
