Tata Indigo Vista – Compact Sedan Revamped

1 July 2009 No Comments Posted By:Dileep
Tata Motors are planning to launch the Indigo Vista, before the end of 2009. The Indigo was first launched in 2002 and was
the sedan-version of it’s hatchback, Indica. It has shared the Tata Indica’s platform since then, and with the launch of the
Indica Vista, the Indigo Vista will soon follow from the Indian car manufacturers. The Indigo also comes in a station wagon
version, called the Indigo Marina.
The engine options available would be a petrol and a diesel engine versions. The diesel engine is the 1.3l multijet engine
from the Fiat stables. This is the same engine which powers the Fiat Linea, and the power would be about 85 horses. This is
widely accepted to be a very reliable and efficient engine. The petrol version will continue to be fuelled by the 1.4l petrol
engine, powering the current Indigo.
The Indigo has always been ‘an indica with more boot space’. Thus, the Indigo Vista would also be an extension to the indica
Vista. However, with the revemped looks of the Vista, the Indigo Vista is expected to run it’s competition, in the C segment
sedan, very close – Suzuki Swift Dzire, Renault Logan, Hyundai Accent, Ford Ikon, Chevrolet Aveo, etc. As is happening with
the indica, Tata Motors are expected to continue with their current versions of the Indigo and market the indigo Vistas
alongside.
