The Jive, from the TVS production house, is just another commuter bike, which doesn&#8217;t have a very eye-catching appearance. Then what is it that propels the Jive to the headlines &#8211; it is a gear less, clutch-less bike &#8211; the first of it&#8217;s kind(In fact, the Hero Honda Street was the first gear less bike in the country, but it didn&#8217;t do too well). The bike looks very similar to the Star City, and it&#8217;s next variant, the Sport. TVS believes the Jive, being an automatic transmission bike, will be well-liked by the urban commuters, who have to keep flicking their gear pedals in the congested city roads. There is, however, a gear-indicator, which allows the rider to know which gear he is in at any time. The bike can be started in any gear, and there is also an anti-knocking mechanism which prevents the engine from knocking while riding at low speeds on a higher gear.</p>

<p>One may feel the need for power in traffic, which can be gained only through down shifting the gears. The bike has

 rotary gears that allow one to shift directly from the 4th gear to neutral by pressing down the gear pedal when on the 4th. The Jive is believed to produce an on-road mileage of 65 kmpl, which is a highly impressive figure considering the fact that it is an automatic transmission vehicle. There is also a sizable amount of storage space, under the seat, and the fuel-tank is pretty big as it can hold 12 liters of fuel. TVS Jive has been launched with a price tag of 42,500 (Ex-Showroom Chennai) which means that On-Road price of Jive is around 46,500 rupees. TVS Jive is available in 3 shades &#8211; Blue, Black and Red &#8211; and in 2 variants &#8211; Kick Start and Self Start. The motorcycle is propelled by a 110 cc engine which features innovative T-Matic technology (patent applied for), mated to the rotary gear technology coupled with an automatic clutch. How will this bike do in the Indian market? We believe there would be some who would simply love this bike, and some who hate it as well. For those who look for comfort and convenience, this bike does seem to be a winner.</p>

Put the price aside and look at the V twin engine, which is actually a roaring beast.Bookings for the bike will start from April-2010 at dealerships to be announced in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. Company is on a hunt for dealers.The premium bikes will initially be imported along with accessories and riding gear from US.</p>

</strong>In 1901 William S. Harley, then aged just 21, completed a blueprint drawing of an engine designed to fit into a bicycle.In 1903 Harley and Arthur Davidson make available to the public the first Harley-Davidson motorcycle. They worked in factory of size 10 x 15-foot, a wooden shed with the words &#8220;Harley-Davidson Motor Company&#8221; crudely written on the door. Arthur&#8217;s brother Walter later joined them in the venture. The bike was built for racing purpose and it won a 15 mile race in Chicago in the year 1905. The first full-time employee was also hired in the same year.In next ten years they built a 6 stored head quarters and a big factory building at Milwaukee.From there the growth was tremendous, now in 2010 nearly 110 years after the first H.D was launched, it still remains as a pride and envy for America and always a dream for a biker boy.</p>

Initially launched in 1985, the Yamaha V-Max has since been on the market with only minor modifications over the years. Sold both in Japan and abroad, the V-Max is one of the best-selling Japanese motorcycles of all time. The bike got designed, about 20 years back, by John Reed, an English designer who lived in California. Packed with oodles of power, the Yamaha V-Max became the world&#8217;s first &#8216;power cruiser&#8217;, even before the word was coined. While it&#8217;s power has never been questioned, the bike is often criticised for it&#8217;s poor cornering ability and soft suspension, which lead to high-speed wobbling and drift. But, the V-Max of the 80&#8242;s was the very epitome of a drag bike &#8211; a simple chassis, lots of horsepower, fast in a straight line but not really designed to corner. Come 2009, and Yamaha decided to do away with the old and bring in the new. The new V-Max is about more cubic capacity, more horsepower, more torque, more speed, more stopping and vitally lots of cutting edge technology to make all this possible.</p>
<p>At the heart of the 2009 VMAX is an all-new 1,679cc liquid cooled 4-stroke DOHC V4 engine which runs the same 66.0mm stroke as its predecessor, but now runs a bigger 90.0mm bore on each of the four cylinders. The biggest change is the shift to fuel-injection technology, as against the carburetted engine of the old V-Max. Weight reduction and mass centralization has been given good consideration, and Yamaha brings in the YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake) and YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) which have been successfully implemented on the Yamaha R1 over the last few years. Of course, a bike that has so much power as this new VMAX needs brakes to match. And for exactly that reason, the new braking system on this bike is one of the most sophisticated and powerful designs ever seen on a Yamaha motorcycle. Dual 320mm diameter wave-type discs at the front, and a massive single 298mm wave-type disc at the rear gives great stopping power.</p>

The partnership between Bajaj and Kawasaki goes back a long way in time, when they together marketed bikes as &#8216;Kawsaki Bajaj&#8217;. And it looks like the partnership would go on for some time to come, as Bajaj Pro-Biking showrooms will offer the complete three S&#8217;s &#8211; Sales, Service and Spares &#8211; for Kawasaki bikes in India.</p>
<p>Adoringly called the baby-Ninja, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R has supersport styling, rider-friendly engine, real world performance and an amiable chassis &#8211; perfect reciipe for a performance motorcycle which would be fun to ride. Once it hits the roads, the Yamaha R15 would have a better-looking rival and one that is more powerful as well. The only consolation for the Yam R15 is that it would no longer be the most expensive motorcycle in India &#8211; the Ninja costs a whopping 2.69 lacs. And the Pulsar 220 owners would no longer be the &#8216;fastest Indians&#8217;.</p>
<p>Bajaj will be importing the Ninja as CKD (completely knocked down) units from Thailand to save on customs duties. The Ninja offers good low and mid range torque, thanks to a dual overhead camshafts. The overall design of the bike is very well balanced and wind tunnel tested and of course the trademark ninja styling is carried from its bigger siblings. The bike has a top whack of 175kmph and 0-100 just under 6 seconds. The instrument cluster of Ninja 250R disappoints a bit as it comes in analog format, as against the digital meters we are so used to seeing in Indian bikes now. The cluster features some warning lights such as low oil, low fuel, choked air filter, high oil temperature and low battery indicators.</p>
<p>It is not fair to compare the Ninja with the <a href="http://www.three2tango.com/car-and-bike-corner/2009-hero-honda-karizma-fi.html/">Karizma ZMR</a>, Pulsar 220 &amp; Yamaha R15, but that is where the bike is going to compete. The high price tag is only where the bike loses out. Otherwise, the Ninja simply destroys it&#8217;s competition. A good mileage of 42.5 kmpl is also promised by Bajaj India. Disc brakes at front and rear and a mono-shock suspension are higlight features. Here are some of the specifications of the baby Ninja. All we can say is that the performance bike market in India is getting bigger and better by the day!</p>

<p>The Pulsar 135 is believed to be powered by a 135 cc DTS-si Engine which is used in the Discover and the XCD bikes.To know the exact specifications about the power and others we will have to wait until December 9.Other new features include gas charged rear suspension,handlebar weights and split grab rails.Bajaj was hoping for a suprise release with the 135cc.</p>

<p>Apparently Bajaj was hoping to suprise everyone. It was a pity that the 135 cc label was not faded when the site was first launched!!!Leaked pictures of the Pulsar 135cc posted at bajajpulsar.org shows that Bajaj has attempted a whole new styling for this newest variant of the Pulsar. Ask my opinion on the launch and i would say that Bajaj has gone crazy.I would say that if they wanted to launch a 135 cc bike with a new styling, they could have named it new Discover or XCD or something. To peg back on the cc of the Pulsar was not a good idea. But you never no and the guys at Bajaj have proved time and again that they know how to sell a bike.It seems that the Pulsar 135 cc is being launched to eat into the sales of the Hero Honda Stunner.The price of the Pulsar 135 cc will be between Rs. 55,000 and Rs. 60,ooo</p>
<p>But as a Pulsar enthusiast myself,i am very much unimpressed with a launch of a 135 cc Pulsar and the general opinion of Pulsar lovers seem to be the same.I had expected for a 250 cc or even higher cc variants.Only time will tell how the customers will react to this launch.</p>

After months of speculation, finally Hero Honda is about to launch an upgraded and revamped version of it&#8217;s peformance bike Karizma. But, the performance bike market is highly competitive at the moment, and we wonder whether Hero Honda has done enough to keep pace with the Bajaj and Yamaha models. With competitors like Pulsar 220, YZF R15, Apache 180, etc, the Indian biker has a wide range of options available to him. For the new Karizma, the most notable improvement is given to the Honda engine at the helm. The Karizma ZMR gets a programmable fuel-injection based engine of 223 cc capacity. This immediately means better power and fuel-efficiency. It also has a full fairing, whose design hasn&#8217;t gone down well with bike enthisiasts across the country, based on the pics that have come out. A split clip-on handle bar is believed to make riding more comfortable in comparison to the older Karizma, which was widely regarded as the best touring bike in the country.</p>

The colours expected to be available are white, red, blue and black. The split rear grab rails, fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors and a sporty new rear mud-guard are good add-ons. The bike also gets disc breaks in the rear as-well, and the ride quality on the gas-charged shock absorbers must be of great comfort. The revamped fairing has &#8220;ZMR&#8221; boldly emblazoned on it, but Hero Honda hasn&#8217;t publicised what it really stands for.</p>

<p>Overall, the bike doesn&#8217;t seem like it would beat the P220 or the R15. But, Hero Honda has been around for quite a long time now, and must know what they are doing. What&#8217;s surprising is that after this long delay in the new Karizma&#8217;s launch, the final product&#8217;s design seems to be a quick &#8220;panic&#8221; job. But, let&#8217;s wait until the Indian biker gets his hands on the Karizma ZMR and wait for his review. Until then, your guess is as good as ours!</p>

The front comes with a new aerodynamic cowl to keep the wind blast at bay.New twin headlamps also helps in the glamorous looks.Like the FZ16,it comes with large tires and the huge tank,something that has made the FZ popular.The design of the Yamaha Fazer is an example of the craftsmanship of Yamaha.The only disappointing aspect is again the exhaust,which really looks ugly.That&#8217;s something that Yamaha should pay attention to.The other aspects of the bike are simply awesome.The Fazer will be offered in 4 color variants-Electric Blue,Midnight Black,Lava Red and Flaming Orange.</p>
<p>The pricing of the Fazer is on the higher side at Rs.72,000.Well,if they really intend on taking on the Pulsar,a competitive pricing was the need of the hour.With the new Pulsar 220 now available at Rs.70,000,the high price tag of the Fazer 150 might just work against it.</p>
<p>Well,it seems that Yamaha has just upped the competition in the 150+ segment.It remains to be seen whether Bajaj comes up with yet another model of Pulsar to compete with it.My guess is that<br />

<p><strong>Honda DN 01</strong></p>
<p>This bike was introduced as a concept bike in the year 2005 at the Tokyo MotorShow.<br />
The DN 01 is powerred by a 680 cc V twin engine.What more,it will also have automatic gear transmission,which can be switched to a six speed manual transmission.<br />
Honda started producing the DN 01 in 2008. It has no clutch,instead will have fully automatic transmission.The manual transmission is done through gear selection buttons.</p>

TVS Motors will launch the much-awaited Apache RTR 180 by the end of this month. Initially code-named as the Menace, TVS hopes that the RTR 180 would turn out to be a menace for the Bajaj Auto. The RTR180 is powered by a 177.3cc engine which produces 17.3Bhp of maximum power with 15.5 Nm of maximum torque. Sadly though, the RTR180 does not have fuel injection. The new 177.4cc mill is a bored out variation of the 160cc mill, and has a longer stroke too. The RTR 180 has a lighter cranck, lighter magneto and a bigger carburettor &#8211; all these lead to a quicker engine response. TVS promises that this 180cc engine will provide better low and mid-range torque. This more-powerful version Apache has a 0-60 timing of 4.15 seconds and a top speed of 125 kmph.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>There is very little cosmetic changes to the new Apache, which is rather disappointing. It sports a new graphic scheme to distinguish itself from it&#8217;s smaller sibling, with RTR emblazoned boldly on the tank scoops. Some of the new features which the RTR180 gets are the white tachometer, 0-60 timer in the digital speedometer and a removable rear mud-guard. The front forks and the gas reservoirs for the rear shock get a golden-shade treatment, and the clip-on handlebar has &#8216;RTR 180&#8242; written at it&#8217;s centre.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The wheelbase increases by a good 40mm, which makes the bike more stable. The rear tyre profile has been changed to 110-80 X 17&#8243;, and TVS will be using it&#8217;s own (tubeless)tyres again. The brakes are carried forward from the 160 version, with 270mm petal disc at the front and 200mm disc at the rear. The rear-end of the bike gets a face-lift, with a re-styled silencer and stylish new rear fender &amp; number plate.The RTR180 is expected to be priced at around Rs. 72,000/- which is very close to the price offered by competing brands. With the TVS, Bajaj(2009 Pulsar UG IV) and Yamaha coming out with bigger and better bikes, we at three2tango feel that it is high time India&#8217;s biggest two-wheeler manufacturers Hero Honda do something about it, or they could lose the status pretty soon.</p>

<p>The specifications, however, remain just the same as that of it&#8217;s predecessor. The modds have taken place at the front-end of the bike, which sees a new design windshield. The design of the headlight has been tweaked as well which gives the bike an even more aggressive look now. Another difference from the FZ-16 is the carbon pattern meter consol, which is stylish and sporty.</p>

<p>The paint job given to the FZ-S is two-tone. And the two colour options are -

The FZ-16 had the reputation of being a well-balanced bike and this modded version, would be no exception. The Yamaha fanatics will sure lap this one up as well. Following the launch of the YZF R15 and the FZ-16, Yamaha Motors have reported a steep rise in sales and the FZ-S is expected to impove things even further.</p>

<p>The bike is priced at Rs 67,000(Ex Showroom Delhi), which is a good two thousand rupees more than the FZ-16. However, it remains unclear whether the company plans to deliver the &#8216;S&#8217; as just a &#8216;limited edition&#8217; or otherwise.
