Jorge Lorenzo won from pole position for the third year in succession at Estoril as he took victory at the bwin Grande Premio de Portugal on Sunday, finishing ahead of Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso. The 2010 MotoGP World Champion was very strong in his victory, as he passed Rossi on the 17th of 28 laps and then pulled away from him to eventually win by 8.629 seconds. Casey Stoner’s authority on his home Phillip Island track continued in style, as the Ducati rider won at the circuit for the fourth year in a row. Starting from pole position – his third of the season – the 25 year-old led the Iveco Australian Grand Prix from start to finish as he made it a third win of 2010 in front of a partisan crowd. Valentino Rossi won the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix, in which third place was enough for Jorge Lorenzo to be crowned the 2010 MotoGP World Champion. Andrea Dovizioso finished second to take the other podium spot. It was a thrilling race, in which the Italian took his first victory since the season opener in Qatar. Casey Stoner followed up his first win of the season at Aragón with a second victory of 2010 in the Grand Prix of Japan on Sunday, with pole man Andrea Dovizioso second and Valentino Rossi third.
