Casey Stoner won on his debut ride with Repsol Honda, and continued adding to his impressive record at Qatar. Stoner eventually finished 3.440s ahead of reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing), with Pedrosa third in another factory Honda. He stormed his way to pole position, dominated the race rarely relinquishing his lead, and took the flag as the sun was setting in Melbourne.
