Formula 1 2011 Season Preview

As per the official calendar for the 2011 Formula 1 season, we should have been well into it by now, having completed the opening Bahrain Grand Prix. However, political unrest in Bahrain has led to an indefinite postponement of the Bahrain event, and the Australian Grand Prix would host round 1 of the season. The league phase is over and the 8 teams who qualified for the Quarterfinals gear up for the business end of things. As expected, the eight top teams qualified for the quarters even though not everyone journey was easy. While Group A was fairly straight forward with Pakistan, Australia, Sri Lanka and New Zealand qualifying comfortably, things in Group B went down to the wire. MotoGP World Standing 2010
Here’s a look at the final tally of points, at the end of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship. Valentino Rossi’s absense from a good number of races due to injury, Casey Stoner’s inability to find a good setup on his bike until very late into the season, and Dani Pedrosa’s inconsistency made the job very easy for Jorge Lorenzo to clinch the championship. 2010 Formula 1 Driver’s and Constructor’s Championship Table

Take a look at the 2010 Formula 1 Championship table for the drivers and the constructors. The driver’s champion was Sebastian Vettel. He clinched it at the end of a fantastic battle, which culminated in the final race of the season. Indian Involvement in MotoGP

With the inaugural Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix set to be held towards the end of 2011, MotoGP couldn’t be left too far behind. In the coming season, there will be two Indian teams participating in the 125cc category of the MotoGP World Championship. What’s more – we’ll even have an Indian rider on one of those bikes.
