Google launches Android Market Website
Google has launched the Android market website with several applications and widgets. Now you won’t need to scroll through all the applications on your tiny mobile but instead use the market website to browse through the applications and widgets offered on the Android platform. The Android market website http://market.android.com has an iTunes like representation but for the desktop web browsers. Earlier the app store could be accessible only from the device and this made browsing for the best applications bit hard.
You can browse, purchase and download any of the near 100,000 applications and widgets available through the web site. The website has three categories basically- Featured, Top Paid and Top Free. The apps will be downloaded to your Smartphone and the installation. Here is the official word from Google on the market web site: “The website makes it easy to discover great new apps with a bigger, brighter interface. You can also send apps directly to your Android device with just a few clicks—no wires needed. We’ve built in new social features, too. You can share apps with your friends through Twitter. And you can read and post app reviews directly to Android Market from the web or from your device” (Source: Google Official Blog). Google also launched applications optimized for the “Honey Comb” version of Android.
