Nokia E Series Phones-business on the go
The Nokia E Series phones was launched towards the latter half of 2005 and newer models of the series have been launched by Nokia since then.An ultimate friend of “business on the go”,most of the recently launched E series phones are 3G enabled, with fast browsing speeds, push emails,Wi-Fi and more.
The first of the E series phones to be launched were the Nokia E60,E61 and the E70.
Nokia E60
This phone can be purely said to have been launched for the business class and not for the normal customer. The reason?because its not the best looking phone in the market,it has no camera, nor does it have a radio.
The display of the phone is nothing less than brilliant, offering you resolutions of 352 x 416 pixels on a TFT screen capable of displaying 16 million colors. The sound is quite cool, with a music player supporting almost every format.
Pros
- Brilliant Display
- Connectivity-Wi-Fi,Infrared,BlueTooth and USB.You can have upto 6 simultaneous Bluetooth connections.
- A very good browser
Cons
- Not for someone who wants good looks.
- No radio
- No camera
- A 5 way joystick is used for navigation, which could have been replaced by navigation buttons.
Price : Rs.15,000($300 approx.)
Nokia E61
This comes with the QWERTY keyboard. An updated version,E61i is the one available in the market now.
The E61 can almost be dubbed as the “Office Redefined”.The design is better than that of the E60 and it offers the same brilliant display that was available with the E60.It also comes
with excellent sound quality and provides you with almost all options when it comes to connectivity.Like the E60,it provides you push email and Wi-Fi.
The biggest disadvantage of the E61 is that like the E60,it also has no camera.Complaints of its slow booting up and others prompted Nokia to launch an updated version of the E61 and hence came the Nokia E61i.
Price : Rs.16,000($320)
Nokia E70
The E70 is a dual mode phone featuring support for both WCDMA and GSM operations. One major difference from the E61 is that the QWERTY keyboard is hidden by its fold open design. So it looks just like a normal phone in the folded position and opens to a full QWERTY phone when unfolded.E70 will be preferable to those people who liked the features of the E61,but were not so happy about its large form factor.
Again like the other E series counterparts, the E70 also comes with a brilliant display with 2 million colors, great web capabilities and bluetooth.
A major advantage over the E61 is that the E70 comes with a 2MP camera. The camera offers digital zooms up to 8x but doesn’t have a flash.
When it comes to connectivity options,it gives you Wi-Fi, WLAN,USB,EDGE GPRS and BlueTooth. The music player plays loud and clear supporting formats of AAC and MP3.One disappointment here would be that it does not support A2DP(Stereo Bluetooth) and does not have a radio.
Price :Rs.18,000($400)
Nokia E50
The E50 is the thinnest and the cheapest among the E series phones.
It comes with features like infrared,Bluetooth,e-mail support and an optional 1.3 MP camera.
The phone is really solid and the battery cover comes in real metal. The E50 is the cheapest E Series phone and does not have a QWERTY keyboard or Wi-Fi and 3G or Voip(internet calling over WLAN).
The E50 is a best buy for all those who are looking for an affordable business phone and 3G support is not that important.
Price: Rs.8,000($160)
In 2007,Nokia launched more phones into this series-E61i,E65 and E90.Reviews about these will be posted soon.
