Internet makes your business arena very big, and that is how e-commerce plays the key role in the new form of Business.Whatever be your product or service, your scope of customers is the whole world.Which means your online storefront can do business 24 hours a day.But it is not so easy as it may sound, because internet is a place where you find the biggest competition for recognition. So if you want to run a e-store successfully, you need serious and carefull planning. There are hundreds of failures in the e-business because they don’t address the basic risks in the field. There are a few things which author should address primarily, last but not least amoung them is the PROMOTION OF THE WEBSITE, which is addressed first in here.SEO is the key to promotion, plus advertisements, banners in popular websites, brochures etc will attract the prospective customers.Purchasing keywords, and submitting to search engines are SEO tricks for which you can approach professionals on the domain. Why the author mentioned the last point first is to stress on the importance of promotion. So now moving to ELEMENTS  OF e-COMMMERCE.

-Establishing An Identity
Selecting a unique name for your e-store is important than naming your brick and motor store. This name is your Domain Name or URL with which you gets identified in the online crowd. So it should definitely be something very catching. And should be very precise and crisp. The user must be able to type the name in the address bar by just hearing it once. That is why “imdb” is preferrable over “internet movie database”.If you have an established firm or business, then it is advisable that you keep the same name as your URL.

-Build a User Friendly Design
An appealing storefront will bring a few hundred returning visitors to your store. In addition to this an overview of your company, its products, services, service descriptions, key benefits, pricing, product specifications for each product or service.Testimonials, or success stories will help customers to understand how similar individuals or organizations have worked with you.Make customer navigations through your site as easy as possible. There must be provisions to deal with customer queries and to deal iritated customers.Select an appropriate tool to do this, sample tools include ATG framework.

-Security and Building Trust Amoung Customers
When thinking about an e-commerce site the one of the prime RISK is security. If a customer feels unsecure in your e-store no business is going to happen in your store.Security must be your top concern once you launched your site, because in electronic business payment is also electronic and a customer won’t disclose his/her credit card number or personal information for the payments which again means problems in business.Customers must get an assurance that the Web site they are communicating with is genuine and that the information they send will remain and confidential. In the age of e-business, authenticated Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates provide an online identity and security to help establish a trust between the parties involved in the transactions over the internet.

-Accepting and Managing Payments
Accepting a payment is not complete until you get the money credited in your account, simply procuring customer’s credit card info won’t get you the money. This process include a complex set of jobs, as there are a large number of financial institutions.Another challenge is verifying customer details like credit card info, payment info etc.All these can be done manually which need huge investment in form of time and money. To avoid this we must effectively use various “Internet Payment Gateways“.This will provide interaction between buyers, sellers and financial networks.
