Over 55,000 Web sites hacked to serve up malware cocktail

26 August 2009 No Comments Posted By:Vivek

Over 55,000 websites have been hacked by cybercriminals to set up a Malware Cocktail of backdoor Trojans and password stealers.I recently happened to see this news on ZDNET.COM and the threat as they say is alarming.

The cybercriminals have embedded a malicious IFrame into thousands of legitimate websites. Now that is one thing that the webmasters should be careful too. This is not the first attack by use of the IFrame to set up Malware cocktails. My friend recently faced the same trouble when his website had been embedded with a malicious IFrame. This latest threat is even larger i guess. The malware exploits unsuspecting users when they visit their favorite sites and also points to an intermediary site, which in turn will load additional exploits from seven different malware domains.
