Epl transfer news-2010-11 Season
The start of the 2010/11 EPL seson is just a week away and the Premier league has still not done an eye catching move so far, even though there has been no dearth in speculations. Its Manchester City who is doing all the spending. They have spend nearly 80 million already. Manchester United and Liverpool have done a bit of business while the London clubs Chelsea,Arsenal and Tottenham have so far not made any big signings.
City’s biggest signing so far has been David Silva from Valencia. Cash-strapped Valencia finally had to let their players go, but they would not complain as they got £25 million for Silva and a further £35 million for David Villa who moved to Barcelona. David Silva is a very talented winger and at just 24 years, one can expect the best phase of his career coming up. The adition of Silva would probably mean that Craig Bellamy will be surplus to requirements at the Eastlands and may join formar Coach Mark Hughes at Fulham.
City also signed Yaya Toure from Barcelona. The defensive midfielder is a very good addition to the squad and joins brother Kolo Toure at the club. Yaya Toure is reported to have cost aroud £20 million for the Citizens. The Citizens have also signer German defender Jerome Boeteng from Hamburg for £11 million and Alexander Kolarov from Lazio for £17 million. That is already £73 million that City has spend. City are also expected to completed the signing of 19 year Inter Milan forward Mario Baloteli. The deal would cost them nearly £30 million, or more. City are still interested in Aston Villa’s James Milner, who is valued at more than £20 million. If these signings are also completed, City would have spnd in the region of £140 million by the end of the transfer window. Also, with Fernando Torres still not having pledged his future to Liverpool, City would be ready to pounce anytime. One wonders how many of these players would actually play this season. A new rule has been imposed limiting the number of players per club to 25 ,with 8 home grown players. One wonders, where is this 8 home grown players are going to come for City!!
